RPP-N wrangle: Lawati forms parallel committee
KATHMANDU, MAR 09 - The disgruntled faction of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal led by Padma Sundar Lawati on Monday announced the formation of a parallel working committee.
Lawati is the chairman of 64- member committee while Ganesh Sherchan has been appointed co-chairman. Likewise, six vice chairmen and two general secretaries have been appointed.
In a press statement issued after the announcement of the formation of the parallel committee , the dissenting faction has alleged RPP-N Chairman Kamal Thapa of putting party principles at stake for the sake of power.
The statement further charges that Chairman Thapa has put the party in the republic front against the party policy. The faction has accused Thapa of trying to make his brother, Ganesh Thapa, a minister.
The faction led by Lawati had started the ‘party purification movement’ against Chairman Thapa since July-August of 2014.
